Covid-19 surge builds momentum

Respiratory Diseases

Influenza-like illness

Influenza remains quiet. Wastewater activity is very low. All states reported minimal influenza-like illness (ILI) activity.

Outpatient visits are at a very low 1.05%. There has been a tiny increase in outpatient visits among the youngest age group in the past two weeks, but the age-specific rate remains very low at 3.4%. Cases among all other age groups held steady, at 1.35% for those aged 5-24, and <1% for all older age groups.

Hospitalizations remain very low at 0.2 hospitalizations per 100,000 people.

COVID-19

Covid-19 is spreading widely, and activity continues to increase. Wastewater data shows moderate national activity for the first time since March, emergency department visits are rising in most states, and current trends suggest this wave may exceed the recent winter’s peak in size.
